This is a very solid and decent-sounding set of recordings by the great guitarist and singer Sister Rosetta Tharpe on Indigo, compiled from her most fruitful and best-known period, 1938-1948. The 22 cuts here focus on her developments not only as a player, writer, and singer, but also as an artist who perfectly melded the blues and the new gospel sounds of Thomas A. Dorsey.
