I am so pleased I bought this book, now a treasured read on my shelves. Alan Bennett opens up to his fans and readers in every way, guides us through his early years to meet his family and friends in the very best way, (the photographs are wonderful too,) and he manages, most probably the result of much hidden hard work, to astonish and delight me often. A wonderful book and I recommend it without reservations. His book has a satisfyingly full share of laugh-out-loud events which I really appreciate.
I am a subscriber to The London Review of Books, and a visit to their webpage, to read his journal entries, and other published articles, is an added boon, in my opinion.
Thank you for inviting me to review this book.
