Seller's Description:
Superb book by the great photographer. "Untitled is the third volume of Diane Arbus's work and the only on devoted exclusively to a single project. The photographs were taken at residences for the mentally retarded between 1969 and 1971, in the last years of Arbus's life. Although she considered doing a book on the subject, the vast majority of these pictures have remained unpublished until now." Not a politically correct description, but the photographs are brilliant I would have of course said mentally challenged instead of retarded. Reproduced from prints by Neil Selkirk. Afterword by Doon Arbus. Edited and designed by Doon Arbus and Yolanda Cuomo. Unpaginated (112 pp. ), with 51 duotone plates beautifully printed in Italy by L.E.G.O. /Eurografica, Vicenza, from separations by Robert Hennessey. Laid in is a somewhat uncommon small 8pg. brochure from an exhibit of Diane Arbus's photographs that traveled and was shown at The Gray Art Gallery at New York University. 8 photos+ short text. The book is fine with a fine dustjacket that has a touch of wear to the tip and top edge of the dustjacket. Extra postage might be required because of the weight and size of the book.
