Victor Ross (1919-2021) was an Austrian Jewish refugee from Nazi occupation who became Chairman of Reader's Digest, Europe. He conceived and led the 'Thank You Britain' fund in the 1960s, raising £96, 000 (well over £1 million in today's terms) within the Jewish refugee community from central Europe, for a scholarship fund and series of annual lectures at the British Academy.
