Outdated Polemic
There is a very useful article in this book. Unfortunately the authors stretched it to book length. The book also suffers from the extreme political partisanship of the writers. One of the biggest problems with effective distribution of scientific information in the country today is this real or perceived link between science and political parties. I was entertained by the differences between today's political realities and what the authors hoped for when they wrote in 2008.
I do think Mooney and Kristenbaum do an superior job of criticizing the 'evangelical atheists' whose writings often have little to do with science issues and help stoke the fires of distrust between religion and science.
Overall Unscientific America will remain on my bookshelf but mainly as an example of what happens when politics and science attempt to play together.
