A little slow in the beginning but absolutely worth your time! It's hard to imagine there are groups like this in the USA.. I was amazed by her courage in leaving the sect and striking out on her own. Would love to know how she's doing now.

"Unorthodox..." is excellent!
Deborah Feldman has written a thoughful and enlightening book about her heritage and the reasons she had to leave. Having lived in Brooklyn, near the Williamsburg neighborhood for 20 years, I found her imagery spot-on. This book was riveting, and I have already shared it with two friends who have raved about it, as well. I admire her for making the decision to change her life and for being willing to share it. I hope she writes more in the future!
