Watching footage of English punks pogoing up and down to "Anarchy in the U.K." reminds one more of a dress-up birthday game for kids than the faster and louder American punk. This brings me to "Faster and Louder" by the Dictators. Even Devo's "Mongoloid" is heavier than anything on Never Mind The Bullocks. (But, is Devo punk?) Whereas the Pistols-led punk movement of England has a "hate-love" relationship with pop music, American punk is largely a subculture of '70s rock.
