My parents bought a five-volume set for us as children from a door-to-door salesman in Texas. We were not a religious family, so this was not the motivation. I read and re-read them many times as a child. That was nearly sixty years ago. I still have the set. The stories were wonderful, brief, perfect for bedtime, and part of the enchantment for me was that the stories happened all over the world and inspired me to visit many of those places as an adult. The basis of what I know about the Bible, I learned from these books, but the stories are never preachy, just teach values like honesty and integrity in a simple, straightforward way. Though some of the stories occurred nearly 100 years ago, I would still highly recommend this set to anyone.

Great book for children!
Some people may consider a book like this outdated, but if you still want to teach your children common decency and correct moral values, this book is perfect for you and your family. The stories teach children how to behave and treat others, along with assuring them that God does indeed exist, He loves them, and He hears and answers their prayers. I recommend this to anyone who truly wants their children to be happy.
