So, I'd been wanting to buy this book for a while now. I hesitated because of "everyone" saying that it was dated and in some ways, it certainly is. However, it's an enjoyable book to read and a lot of the recommendations are sound and are a good start if you're new to boats, specifically sailboats and are dreaming of sailing off to far off places, like I am. I think you'd be well-served to buy yourself a copy to at least get some ideas on the types of boats you should look for once you get to that point in your life. Is this book perfect or exhaustive, no but's a great start! 10/10, would recommend!

Lovely little book on lovely little vessels
This is a charming collection of well rounded insights into what twenty small sailing vessels has to offer for those of us dreaming about or planning an ocean crossing. Its a good book to read in many ways. If you're thinking of getting one of the twenty chosen ones (or if you have it alread), its a good book for evaluating any of these vessels you come across. Even if you've got your eyes set on a vessel not mentioned in the book, the manner in which the author takes you through his evaluation of the various boats, will give you a good idea on how to approach any vessel.
If in a future edition photos of the beauties are included, that would make the book even better.
