Seller's Description:
Used-Very Good. A smorgasbord for browsers, a repository of images for designers and craftspeople in all fields, this delightful, inclusive survey deciphers the visual culture of everyday life. Ornament is taken in its widest context, including everything from hotel architecture to Russian folk ceramics, food processors, hi-fi sets, Swatch watches and posters. Woodham, a British lecturer in design history, makes tantalizing connections: an Austrian abstract fabric design is shown to resemble Gustav Klimt's paintings; architectural monumentalism is tracked in both Soviet Russia and Germany of the 1930s. The outstanding illustrations, combined with a chronological narrative, lend coherence to the nearly impossible task of tracing modern ornamentation in all its forms and styles, from roadside vernacular to new wave. Very nice clean, tight copy free of any marks.

Seller's Description:
Fine Condition in Very Good jacket. 335 pp., 400 illustrations, 200 of which are in color. First edition. Includes notes, list of designers and design organizations, further readings, and index. Black cloth with gilt letters stamped to the spine. Binding is in tight, bright, and fine condition. Dustjacket appears at first to be equally fine, protected now in a Mylar cover, but the back panel has been creased, and strangely, a water stain is evident on the lower backside of the dustjacket that is not evident from the front. Whatever caused the stain to the dustjacket somehow did not affect the binding which is, as I said, perfectly fine.
