This book arranges the solution to a mistaken marriage so artfully that you might wish, as I do, that it was the first volume of a trilogy just so you could follow its characters through a couple more novels. Could they be as good as this one? If Furman wrote them, they would. The fine prose style, perfect plotting, engagingly believable characters, lovingly balanced narrative distance from domestic events makes me want to read everything Furman writes. This book is as good as Drinking With the Cook, Watch Time Fly, and The Mother Who Stayed. Furman gets grants and awards and well deserves them. I want to read all her fiction, which I expect will be equally excellent.
