Seller's Description:
Various. Near Fine. 4to-over 9¾-12" tall. pp. 168. Book as new and unread, pages in absolutely clean and unmarked condition, but RH corners have been 'bumped', affecting the following pages. Some light foxing on top edge of pages. Spine unbroken. The catalogue of an exhibition that toured some western states of the USA in 1991-92. It collected and surveyed twenty artists who actively created moderniest art in a climate of frighteningly conservative aesthetic taste. Unlike their East Coast peers, they struggled for public understanding, for galleries and for patrons. The exhibition attempted to redress the balance which had always tipped towards the East coast, and reclaim the work of these under-rated and-at the time-much understood artists. Illustrated throughout, some full colour plates, and detailed biographical notes of the artists featured.
