The literary characteristics of the poem are discussed as well as the Ashkenazic rituals of coping with catastrophe. Since Megillas Vintz was chanted to the tune of Die Schlacht von Pavia in Frankfurt on Purim Vintz, the melodies are reproduced in an Appendix.
