In this book of the series the community that we have been following is reaching out to other communities and trying to rebuild the infrastructure of a society.
This series is really well done in a way that each book makes you want to read the rest.
It tells a story of what may happen from a naturally occuring electromagnetic pulse caused by extreme solar flares. It follows one family and their community through the loss of technology. It focuses on the coming together of the community to deal with the problems of obtaining food , water and protection. It was especially good that the series covered both the ideas collecting information from the elders of the community about how they lived without technology and using the ideas of inventive and creativve young people as well.
It was realistic about the violence that would probably be present with the collapse of society. This author in the past has specialized in murder mysteries and so was able to include the murders in a way that was well written and realistic.
Lastly I believe that the interwoven Christian perspective was done in a well thought out and realistic manner. The spiritual trials were not glossed over and the main character's lapses in faith were covered in a way that all people of faith can relate to.

great book!!
I cannot stress enough - what a great book! It carries on the series, and you just want to read more and more. Anyone would enjoy the adventure, and the focus of how God can work in many ways in our lives. I have recommended this book to all my family, and have passed this book on to all readers of good clean fiction.
