Where preceding volumes in this series of compilations showcase the evolution of techno and later volumes host developing artists, this particular volume includes some of the genre's most proven artists and some of their most realized and well-known work. The first CD features an unmixed sampling of mid-'90s tracks that last no less than six minutes apiece, with a few nearing the ten-minute mark and many being of the more down-tempo nature. The second CD features many of Tresor's early classics, seamlessly mixed by Jonzon, with an emphasis on the label's harder, more DJ-orientated side. As mentioned, this album features many of techno's legendary figures such as Maurizio (also as Domina), Juan Atkins (as Model 500 and Infiniti), Richie Hawtin (as F.U.S.E.), and Jeff Mills (as X-101, X-103, and UR). While these superstars contribute some brilliant tracks, the other lesser-known artists contribute equally noteworthy tracks, particularly Scan 7's "Shadow Chaser," TV Victor's "La Beff," and Pacou's "Cooper's Coffee."
