Great Christian morals & fun story
I've heard about Stephen Bly for many years, and when I saw this children's book at the thrift store, I thought I'd pick it up. Overall, it was a fun read! An interesting mystery, good Christian character illustrated throughout, some great adventure to keep kids' curiosity going, and I liked the setting of the book too: the mountains, the canyons, the plains.
If there was one thing I didn't like, it was the repetitive references about Feather (a girl) shouldn't spend so much time alone with the boys. It seems the adults mentioned this quite a few times throughout the book, which was getting annoying. Most other children's chapter books focus on young boys and girls enjoying the friendship of each other, and for some reason, this one fact bothered me about this book. Other than that though, I quite enjoyed the plot of "Treachery at the River Canyon"!
