A complete guide on trapping all North American Furbearers for both Amateur and Professional, also deer hunting, turkey hunting, bear hunting, tracks and tracking, lures and baits, skinning and handling, etc. S. Stanley Hawbaker (1911-1983) began trapping and caught his first furbearers when he was eight years old. It was an event that was to change his life. The thrill of the chase and his love of the outdoors remained with him as he endured the Depression of the 30's. His trapping hobby enabled him to survive these tough years and planted the idea of a business based on what he enjoyed most: hunting, trapping, fishing, and being in the great outdoors. He opened Hawbaker Trading Post in 1936, and wrote his first book (Trapping and Trailing) in 1938. He also published American Woodsman Magazine from 1951 thru 1955. Since its first edition in 1941, Trapping North American Furbearers has continued to delight and educate generations of outdoorsmen. Considered the King of the cottage industry trappers, Hawbaker was inducted into the National Trappers Association Hall of Fame in 1994.
