This equa tion was advocated by Thurneysen (kn/en's Zeitse/zrzft, XXX. 493 sq.) at some length. Its crying defects on the phonetic side are briefly stated by Stolz (i. The advocates of this theory must also Charge themselves with explaining the development of signification and syntax in the gerundive.
