This collection of musings on theatrical practice not only contains great insight into the purposes for this practicum but also many great exercises that Grotowski discovered over the years with his acting troupe. He puts himself in opposition to Brecht and Artaud saying that neither was able to fully realize their theories because of, respectively, a lack of an acting system and a lack of practical work for his theories. He, instead, searches with his actors for the deep mysteries lying below the facades we present each other everday. A great addition to your theatre library and should probably fill the shelf next to Michael Chekov, Vakhtangov and Stanislavski.
