My, how they've grown. The young Swedish folk duo of Harv is back for a second go-around, and two members have been added on guitar and percussion. The result is not only a much fuller sound, but quite a rollicking record, a mix of traditional and traditionally influenced music. The youthful enthusiasm that permeated their debut is still very much evident on tracks like "The Fool" and the title cut, but there's also an added depth and maturity to the playing, with both Magnus Stinnerbom and Daniel Sandén-Warg sounding in complete control of their instruments and material. The resonating drone strings on the fiddle give a constant undercurrent and underpinning to the music, especially evident on tracks like "The Suite," where guest Ale Möller brings his shawm to create an almost medieval feel. While this is undeniably a folk record (and several of the tunes were composed for theater productions, but work splendidly in isolation), Harv attack the material with the feel of a rock band -- perfect for such a young and accomplished group. Add to that the fact that there are five videos on the disc (playable on computer), and you have a bargain of a Swedish folk package. ~ Chris Nickson, Rovi
