I read this book in the late seventies when I was about nine years old. It's one of the few books I read cover to cover without stopping. It has a great twist about halfway through that most children won't see coming. It deals with a somewhat mature subject in a thought-provoking way. I can't tell the subject matter or it will give away the twist. Just know that it's appropriate for boys about seven or eight and up. I think even a teenage boy might enjoy this book. Girls too, of course! It also deals with the stresses of moving halfway across the country. Pretty darn good book.
