Jacket toned, darkened on spine, 3cm tear at bottom of rear flap fold endpapers toned, some minor foxing. Very scarce with jacket. Important early source book for Queensland history with much on aborigines and vividly describing life in the Moreton Bay penal colony from the 1830s. Petrie (1831-1910) arrived in Queensland in 1837. Later he accompanied, or acted as messenger, for many early explorations and was intimately acquainted with the local aborigines, on whom he was considered an expert.
