He wanted the same rights and privileges that other family members had. He couldn't understand why he was tied up at night and forced to live outside in a doghouse. He simply wanted to live with his family in the big house. If he wasn't going to be accepted as an equal family member he thought about running away and joining the circus. Also, he wanted to attend school with his best buddy. He didn't understand why there was a rule barring dogs from attending school. Toby was lovable, spirited, cute, and intuitive.
