I saw this book on the coffee table of a USFS office and bet my colleagues i could get it for under $5. To me, a book of this quality should retail for near $100. I won. Why did I want the book? It features beautiful, fully documented historic photos of gargantuan trees. Unfortunately, many are in some stage of being "harvested." Don't get me wrong, I live in a wooden house, but I'm glad this era was well documented. There are so few of these big trees left compared with the "inventory" of earlier times. I hope this book inspires people to help preserve the last of our Pacific Northwest old growth forests.
