In 1889, he moved to Spokane, Wash, where he went into the grocery business, sell ing out in a year and a half to move to Bellingham, Wash. Here he rented a large sawmill and carried on a successful business for some years. In 1894, he purchased a farm in Pomeroy, Wash, where the remainder of his life was spent. He was County Auditor of Garfield Co. For two terms. Mr. Sanford was an honest and respected citizen, an efficient and industrious officer, and a kind Christian man.
