Full of defects as the work is, it is, I venture to say, an honest autobiography, in which, in accordance with its name and professed purport, self is the all-per vading topic, whether for good or evil. I mention this because some even of my friends have expressed disappointment that I have not entered upon sundry subjects of general importance, which they kindly think I might have been qualified to discuss.
