This book is quite ahead of it's time in the approach of permanent weight loss. The author's thoughts about growing up and thinking like a thin person who is an adult instead of a fat child is very good. She describes the 'fat self and thinning self". The actual diet is not good, the calories between 700-800 are not what a doctor would advise to a patient. The first section of the book that deals with the head issues is worth it, then toss the second half of the book aside and use a good stable diet plan. I do think that reading this book can have a positive outcome in the scale wars.
