Very good. No. 265 of limited, numbered edition of 975 copies. [x] 235pp. Square quarto. 1/4 vellum; blue cloth covered boards, gilded embossed ornament to front board. Spine title stamped in gilt, stamped rules in same; some rubbing to spine at joints. Edges of boards somewhat darkened, some slight soiling to both, corners slightly bumped. Textblock fore and lower edges un-trimmed, slightly darkened; blue ribbon marker as issued. Illustrated title page; printed on Japon Vellum. A finely bound copy; beautifully realized. very good The first publication of the Argonaut Press; an account of Drake's voyage around the world. The limited edition, in addition to being printed on Japon vellum, also has an original woodcut illustration by British artist William Monk. This volume was later re-published as part of a 16 part set; both the original and the reprint are extremely scarce.
