If one could select only one reference to read and come away with a thorough understanding of the War of Rebellion, then Henry's Story of the Confederacy would be it. The author has more than ample references to support his story and writes with with such skill and clarity that the reader feels ever present with the events. As a bonus he gives a synoptic table on events at the end. Its a shame every high school/college student does not have this as required reading.
