If you like to read about the developing history of an area in novel form especially that of the the Fertile Crescent, then this is a great read. Yes, it is long, but I read cover to cover in a week after returning from a trip to Israel and visiting Meggido. I could not put it down, unlike the year between High School and College when I couldn't pick it up. I guess I was on text book overload
