The Pleasures of Imagination is a didactic poem which discusses the various kinds of pleasure to be derived from the perception of beauty. The work also discusses a imagination versus philosophy, and the pleasure to be found in studying man. Written by poet and physician, Mark Akenside. In full tree calf binding with gilt stamping to spine and board edges. Externally, smart with light rubbing to the spine and extremities. Prior owner's bookplate to from pastedown, William Jubber Spunnier. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are slightly age toned to edges with the odd spot and occasional offsetting throughout. Very Good Indeed.

Marbled end leaves with residue of small label on front paste down. Inked name and date on blank verso of frontispiece. A few leaves with foxing and a couple with light edge wear.
