Very Good. Condition: Very Good; Harper & Brothers, December 1952. Stated first edition of this scarce book by Catholic labor activist Day. Quarter-bound with black cloth on spine, gray cloth else. Book overall VG, with some general wear. Light rubbing to all edges, to corners, and to extremities of spine; corners lightly bumped and rubbed; very slight dust-soil, mainly to the top edge of the boards. Text block clean and bright except for marginal notes to pages 273-285, two underlined sentences on pages 11 and 17. Glue offset/tanning to endpapers, front and back. Spine is square and tight. Jacket more extensively worn, good but with pronounced tearing and chipping at top and bottom edges. All edges worn and rubbed. Front turn, back turn and spine margins all creased. Scrape above "Harper" on the spine. Tanned overall, most noticeably at top and bottom edges of the jacket flaps. Jacket price is unclipped. The striking black-and-white illustration on the front panel is in excellent condition.
