Original red cloth, top edge gilt, index, 527 pp, no illustrations. Hardcover, very good. Corners bumped with a bit of cardboard exposed there, light soil and some scuffing on cloth, spine moderately faded, a few approximately 1/16th inch nicks at head and foot. Internally, upper corners of first few leaves, including title page, torn off (text unaffected), remnants of bookplate, front hinge cracked, rear starting, foxing on first and last few leaves, a few stray smudges, otherwise tight, clean, paper crisp, unmarked.
