Includes the new tipped-in half-title leaf stating, "Northwest Historical Series" (as the Clark bibliography points out, "The original series statement is Early Western Journals, but some copies have Northwest Historical Series half-title tipped in"). Edited by William S. Lewis and Paul C. Phillips. 209pp. Frontis, 5 plates (including map of the expedition). Bibliography, index. Publisher's dark blue cloth, gilt-lettered spine, top edges gilt. Very minimal offsetting to ends. A very fine, bright copy. Very scarce, especially in this condition. A record of one of the last of the great fur-trading expeditions of the Hudson's Bay Company's Snake River brigade, primarily in what is now Idaho and Southwest Montana. Work was one of the greatest of the Hudson's Bay Company traders. His explorations were more extensive than those of his better known contemporaries, Alexander Ross and Peter Skene Ogden.
