Seller's Description:
Very Good. First edition (no additional printings listed). Original covers, staplebound, approximately 5x7 inches, 48 pp. Paperback, very good. Some tanning and three 1/8th inch drop marks on covers, upper corner of front cover and first few leaves creased, paper lightly age yellowed, 2 inch square tanned area on two adjoining leaves, probably from a vanished newspaper clipping, otherwise tight, clean, paper crisp, unmarked. Thorough examination of the case of Galileo and the Inquisition, seen within the context of the times, showing that the problem was his de facto refutation of the entrenched teachings of Aristotle and Scripture, which necessitated a response from the Church, which was, in fact otherwise open to the findings of science. Religion; history; astronomy; apologetics.
