From Wikipedia: "The Little Kanawha River is a tributary of the Ohio River, 169 mi (269 km) long, in western West Virginia in the United States. Via the Ohio, it is part of the watershed of the Mississippi River, draining an area of 2, 320 mi˛ (6, 009 km˛) on the unglaciated portion of the Allegheny Plateau. It served as an important commercial water route in the early history of West Virginia, particularly in the logging and petroleum industries." From Wikipedia: "Howard Burton Lee (October 27, 1879 May 24, 1985), of Mercer County, served as the Republican Attorney General of West Virginia from 1925 to 1933. His efforts to eliminate government corruption during that time helped to end the West Virginia Mine Wars. Lee was born in Wirt County, West Virginia and graduated from Marshall College. He wrote a number of books including Bloodletting in Appalachia, The Story of the Constitution, The Criminal Trial in the Virginias, and The Burning Springs and Other Tales of the Little Kanawha. He died at the age of 105 in a Florida nursing home in 1985."
