Outstanding Western History book!
This is a thorough, well written, easily readable, and fascinating description of the early days of the American West. It includes essential information about every category of interest in the settling of the West -- explorations, transportation, soldiers, Indians, cowboys, horses, cattle, weapons, wild life, and even a gallery of western art, folklore, and music. There are tons of helpful illustrations depicting everything from regional maps to major events to the details of saddles and weapons. I strongly recommend it as an accurate and all-inclusive portrayal of the history of the American West.
