Seller's Description:
Near Very Good in Good Plus jacket. 8vo. xxvi, 270pp, illustrated with more than 290 prints, bibliography. Pages 8/9 and 10/11 are wrinkled at a section from the fore-edge. There are a few spots on the front flyleaf. Or black boards, lightly flecked, in rubbed and edge-worn jacket. Starting with an explanation of the process itself, and showing how the method influences the subject matter and the point of view of the artist, the authors trace the beginning prints in Europe and the emergence of Albrecht Durer as the first great print-master. The book then devotes chapters to Durer's students and successors, including Rembrant, Hogarth, Goya and Rouault, concluding with a section on 'Printmaking today'.
