Just what I was looking for
Thanks you so much for your prompt shipping of this book. I had been eager to replace my worn-out copy from 50 years ago.

Superb book, good analysis
Even minus the annotations, the book would easily score 5 stars. But the annotations are an extra bonus. They aren't always right and sometimes can even get irritating but by and large they're very informative.

Martin Gardner
I bought this book as a tribute to the life of Martin Gardner after I read in Nature that he had died. His writings gave me much pleasure and insight when he was writing in Scientific American and I felt I owed him.
The book is delightful.

The annotated version helps to put the writing in context to the time and gives insight into the author.
The original story is wondefully written and many passages and poems are outstanding.
I would recommend reading the story first without looking at the notes then reread with the notes.
