I have whole paragraphs of this book in my memory -word for word- I've read them so much. I think the author really held back on any sentimentality until you didn't really expect it....which then made it seem like a huge blow. I think a book of this subject matter couldn't 'put you through the punches' with every page though, you'd probably end up throwing it down out of frustration. It has quite enough as it is. And then the end rips your heart out ; ) and you commit it to memory forever.
