The book is still in it's original cover, a dark blue hardback. The cover is slightly scuffed at the corners but shows only a little sign of wear on the faces of the covers. The backstrip is torn at the top and the bottom, and is slightly scuffed along the edges due to repeated use. The cover is still firmly attached, and the binding remains firm throughout the pageblock although it is beginning to loosen in places. The text is in good condition, with no markings bar a little foxing on some leaves and no annotations. The pageblock is uncut and top edge gilt, and slightly browned with age, particularly around the edges of the leaves. There is a library sticker on the front cover. This book has hardback covers. Collated, complete with five illustrated portrait plates. Featuring an author's advertisement to the recto of the half title page. In the publisher's original cloth binding with gilt embellishment to the front board spine. Externally, slightly cocked. Slight bumping to extremities and head and tail of spine, resulting in small closed tears to head of spine. Slight offsetting to front and rear free-endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages slightly age toned to edges but very bright and clean throughout. The odd handling mark to the occasional page. s Very Good Indeed.
