Paul Albert Bell grew up in Oklahoma and after high school he enlisted in the U.S.Navy in 1940. He was attached to the U.S.S. Quail, a minesweeper. He was taken prisoner by the Japanese on the 6th of December 1942, at the fall of Corregidor. He spent 3 1/2 years in a Japanese prison camp in Japan.
