Seller's Description:
Very Good. Very Good condition. A copy that may have a few cosmetic defects. May also contain light spine creasing or a few markings such as an owner's name, short gifter's inscription or light stamp.
Unfortunately, I did not think how a publishing date would affect my purchase, and there was none mentioned in the description. However, this book was published in 1995, and I'm sure that the paint companies have made many changes to their formulas in the past 14 years. The history of some colors was interesting, and the information on color fastness is important. I am not really interested in the technical chemical makeup of the paints. However, I liked the ease of comparing different manufacturers of the same color--just look at the picture and the rating. I will still use this book as a reference before purchasing a tube of watercolor paint, but I will have to keep in mind the age of the information.

Wilcox Watercolor Paint Guide
This guide is terrific. The only problem is that it was published in 1991 (as far as I know there has not been an updated edition) so not all analysis is current. That said, Wilcox did a great service at that time and many of his reviews cover paints used today. His book also forced manufacturers of paint to improve their product.
