He is a graduate of Howard University (BA, 1965), the University of Wyoming (MA, 1970), and the University of Toledo (Ph.D., 1977), and a Vietnam veteran. Dr. Schubert s twenty-two years as a Department of Defense historian include thirteen with the Army Corps of Engineers (1977-1989). During that time he wrote extensively on exploration of the American west and various aspects military construction. His latest work is Black Valor: Buffalo Soldiers and the Medal of Honor, 1870-1898 (1997). This narrative is designed to provide an overview of the role of the United States Army in the conflict with Iraq that took place from August 1990 through February 1991. Discusses the United States Army's role in the Persian Gulf War from August 1990 to February 1991.
