Okay, okay, so maybe I'm being a little too hard on Chris. If you are reading this, then likely you've intentionally searched for this book. Which means that you understand that we were created with specific gifts, abilities and passions for a lifestyle of worship to God.
You've heard Chris Tomlin's heart cry through such songs as "Enough", "Holy Is The Lord", "How Great Is Our God", "Made To Worship" and many others. You know that he is one of the top worship leaders in the church today. You may not know why he does why he does but this book is going to bless and encourage you.
This hardcover book is part of a continuing series by the publisher on worship leading and worship lifestyle made for a quick, easy access and readability. This book is no exception. I have read many books on worship, worship lifestyle and worship theology because I am a worship leader myself and on staff at my local church. I find it necessary to stay fresh and see the perspective of others who have succeeded or failed and how they moved ahead.
Chris' style of writing is very approachable, conversational and understandable. There's no room for a lot of Christianese in this book. He talks about his humble start as a song leader in Grand Saline, Texas and shares the struggles and successes that he had as he tried to find the purpose and plan God had laid before him. As he sought this direction that God was moving him toward, he met up with Louie Giglio and has fully realized his potential as a songwriter, worship leader and child of God.
This is a very easy read with a great price, with chapters that are about 20-30 pages in length. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to dig deeper into why they were made and want to discover what their heart song is. There are eight chapters in all, moving from why we were made, to lifestyles of worshipers, to the song in all of us and finally, how we take it to the world.
Another great feature of this book is a Bible study called "Conversations" that can be done individually or as a small group study.
The only negative thing is that this book is only 5-1/4" x 7" in size.
