The Town, published in 1957, is the second novel in William Faulkner's beloved trilogy of the Snopes Family. Although there was a near 17 year gap between The Hamlet (Snopes 1) and The Town, Faulkner's style of story telling allowed readers to re-visit the characters and story lines created in his earlier work. The Town quickly sweeps readers back into the characterlogical lives; and individual perspectives of the primary characters. As Flem is now in a superficial position of power in "Jefferson County," his greed and lack of moral conscious or regard for others, as a means to acheive authority, begins to crumble.
