Many b/w photos throughout and a large map in the front. The long hours of the night passed, and just about daylight a beautiful ten pound baby boy arrived. With glad thanksgiving, I assured the folks that the Lord had indeed helped us. As I cared for the mother and babe, there was much getting acquainted conversation all around. I stayed until I knew all was well and promised to come back the next day. As Mose was helping me on Dixie, he said, 'Shore am glad you came tonight and did everything you did. I wanted you to come 'cause I knowed you knowed what you knowed. ' I almost wept. Such gratitude and such confidence, coming to me from this stranger. What compensations there are in this world besides dollars and cents, I thought. The beauty, the value of new and trusting friends. I knew now why I had come to the mountains. The photo on the cover shows a mob of Squabble Creek juniors-with Sam VanderMeer holding a banner that says in short "Wear a Christian Endeavor smile), and that is just what they are doing on that picnic day in the 1920s.
