Set in Spain and Morocco during WWII, the author has captured the history and politics of the time, and woven it into a very interesting story. Growing up as an assistant in a sewing shop hardly prepared her for the adventures life would dish out! Due to a poor choice in men, she found she must parlay the simple skill of basting into a career as a top fashion designer and seamstress. The only people with money at this time were the Nazis, and she found herself in the position of spying for the allies. Her method of transferring her data was ingenious.
An absolutely intriguing book, it combines politics, history, tied up in an unexpected love story.
