It is thought that these writing were the work of William Yworth (-1715) an Anglo-Dutch distiller, alchemist, and physician well known for his influential book The Compleat distiller 1705. The work on the Three Fires of the Sophi is uncompomisingly alchemical, exploring the subject primarily with an allegorical perspective. He writes, however, in a clear and straightforward manner. Adam McLean has modernised the English, making it easier for the modern reader to appreciate.
