I have previously read this book 2-3 times, but I bought a used hardback copy because I wanted to re-think this book in terms of what it meant to someone living in Israel.
Alvin Toffler argues that the information age started in the US in 1956 when information workers first outnumbered manufacturing workers.
I think a better date would be October 4, 1957 when Russia launched Sputnik and American education and politicians first thought of the US as being in the space race with the USSR.
Here, in Israel, I think the date at which this country entered the information age should be placed at 1988 the year Russian immigrants arrived in Israel in large numbers. From then on Israel quickly progressed to where it is now widely considered to the #2 in the world for high-tech innovation after Silicon Valley.
So my questions to be answered are from a very special perspective.
